Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services (ERICS)

Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services (ERICS) is a related service and provided to students who require intensive short and long term counseling in order to access their education and make progress on goals, resulting in educational benefit. ERICS addresses social, emotional and/or behavioral deficits, as identified through a comprehensive social and emotional assessment. ERICS offers a continuum of services, which could include: individual counseling, parent counseling, and behavior intervention services. The goal of the ERICS program is to support the student to access their education and make progress on goals, in the least restrictive environment, resulting in educational benefit.

ERICS counselors are licensed clinicians, with a Pupil Personnel Services credential, employed by the Tri-City SELPA serving students in the Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School Districts. Services are designed to support students’ social and emotional goals with a focus on improving overall school functioning. ERICS clinicians differ from private therapists in that they are educational service providers focusing on progress toward IEP goals.
