Early Start

The Early Start Program is California’s response to federal legislation ensuring that early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities are provided. These are coordinated and family centered services available statewide. The Tri-City Early Start Program is operated jointly by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and the Tri-City SELPA.

The Early Start Program serves children birth to 3 years of age with a solely low incidence disability and their families who reside in the Tri-City SELPA. Low incidence disabilities include hearing loss, visual impairments or orthopedic impairments.

Our goal is to maximize learning opportunities and developmental potential for infants and toddlers with hearing loss, vision impairments or orthopedic impairments through ongoing support and collaboration with families.

If you have any concerns with your infant or toddler or questions about the Early Start Program, please contact the Tri-City SELPA for further information.
